Lira looks forward to performing on home soil in November
Sensational,
super-talented SA songstress, Daveyton-born Lira is set to light up the stage
at Carnival City in November when she brings her Evolution tour home to Ekurhuleni. The uber-star performs live at
the Big Top Arena on 27 and 28 November 2015.
Lira’s
concerts, according to the casino’s Events and Entertainment Manager, Matthew
Cook, are amongst the highlights of Carnival City’s sizzling summer
entertainment calendar.
“Lira is
one of South Africa’s biggest stars and we are anticipating a record crowd for
her concerts. Her music has mass appeal and she has an energetic and enigmatic
stage presencethat is certain to wow our audiences. We are thrilled to be
hosting her on our stage as she performs for her home crowd,” he says.
Concertgoers
will be treated to all of Lira’s classics as well as an exclusive showcase of
songs from her much anticipated 5th studio album that is due for
release in early 2016. The not to be missed Evolution concert series will see
audiences witness a new path for Lira and sets an exciting tone of great things
to come.
“Every time
I perform in the East Rand, I feel like I am coming home, and this time I am
bringing something special for the family” says Lira.
Lira, born
in Daveyton on Johannesburg’s East Rand as Lerato Molapo, is a multi-platinum
selling and award winning Afro-soul vocalist. She describes her music as a
fusion of soul and funk with elements of jazz and African. She grew up
listening to MiriamMakeba, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone who
eventually inspired her own songwriting. She began performing live at the age
of 16, singing both cover versions and self-penned songs.
Lira has
spent the last 12 years solidifying her place in the South African music
industry and has done countless shows and events across the globe. Last year
saw the release of afull album in the USA. Ambitiously striding forward with
her musical pursuits, Lira was recently confirmed as a judge on a top reality
TV show.
