Even if you can’t tell your blonde ale from your malted lager or a
bitter from a stout, there will still be plenty to celebrate at the Oktoberfest
Good Night Market in the V&A Waterfront’s Watershed on Wednesday, 28
October.
Originally intended as a celebration of life and happiness, Oktoberfest
is now the largest, and one of the oldest folk festivals in the world. In 2015
approximately 5.9-million people will have visited the Munich festival,
consuming 7.7-million litres of beer.
In keeping with the traditional German theme, the Watershed Good Night
Market spread will include craft beer tasting, a beer garden, an array of typical
German foods, cheese tasting and a variety of other foods. An authentic
Bavarian-styled oompah band will be joined by well-known local band, Nomadic
Orchestra, to keep spirits and glasses lifted.
The October Good Night Market is a celebration of the Watershed’s first
birthday, and like any good birthday, cupcakes will be available at special
stands for more sweet-toothed visitors. To mark the occasion tenants will also
offer specials at their particular stands.
Market goers will be entertained by free live music between 4pm and 9pm,
while food trucks and a drinks bar will begin trading from 4pm. The Watershed
opens for trading from 10am.
As Cape Town’s home for innovative art, craft and design products, the
V&A Waterfront’s Watershed Market continues to offer the best local
creativity and entertainment at its monthly Good Night Market. Housed within
the Watershed, the Good Night Market opens on the last Wednesday of each month
and showcases all things creative.
Entry and live entertainment is free. Lederhausen are optional!
