Three weeks to go until top 80s bands descend on Carnival City

The countdown has begun until the world’s biggest 80s music festival returns to South Africa. On Saturday, 31 January 2015, no less than nine original acts – straight out of the 1980s – will perform live in an enthralling, festive outdoor concert, 80s Rewind Festival, at Carnival City in Brakpan.
Amongst the legendary artists from the 1908s performing in the show are Nick Kershaw (Wouldn’t it be Good); Go West (King of Wishful Thinking); Heather Small from M People (Moving on Up); Cutting Crew (I just Died in your Arms Tonight); Katrina ex Katrina and the Waves (Walking on Sunshine); Wang Chung (Everybody have Fun Tonight), and BillyOcean (Caribbean Queen).
A few top South African bands that made themselves famous in the 80s bands are also in the mix. They include Cinema (My Kind of Girl) and Face to Face (Here we are).
Between these artists, they have produced massive chart-toppers, sold over a 100 million records worldwide, achieved gold and platinum status, and won numerous music awards.
“We are absolutely thrilled to stage the 80s Rewind Concert on our Festival Lawns on 31 January 2015. This is the biggest 80s music festival in the world, combining some of the best local and international bands from the 1908s in one electrifying show. It is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to dance the night away to some of your favourite hits by original artists from the 80s era. It is also a great way to end-off the first month of 2015,” says Michelle Smith, the newly-appointed marketing Manager at Carnival City.
She adds that the 80s Rewind concert – proudly brought to South Africa by KIA, Jacaranda FM, VH1, and DSTV – is just the start of a stunning line-up of shows and concerts to be held atCarnival City this year.
Tickets to the outdoor concert are available at Computicket from R390 per person. The show starts at 16:00 but revelers are invited to arrive early to secure a good spot on the Festival Lawns where they can languish the afternoon and evening away in a laid-back, el fresco setting. Food and beverages will be on sale.
To book, groups can contact Deon Dupont at Deon@rewindfestival.co.za or 0836486555.
