RARE WHISKY COLLECTION
AT FNB WHISKY LIVE FESTIVAL SANDTON
If you are a
whisky-lover you don’t mind crossing the oceans and making a few sacrifices
along the way to obtain a rare whisky. But, no matter how dedicated you are in
your efforts, there’s always that one whisky which remains out of reach. Now
visitors to the 2014 FNB Whisky Live Festival could win such a rare collection!
Only two single malts
have ever been launched under the proudly South African Three Ships label. The
first single malt was launched in 2003 and the most recent one released in
limited-edition collectors’ tins over a three-year period – in 2010, 2011 and
2012. Very few people, if any, managed to obtain all four. And since one can’t
purchase these editions anymore, no matter who you know or how much you are
willing to pay, this collection must rank among the ultimate collectors’ items!
Three very lucky whisky
lovers visiting the 2014 FNB Whisky Live Festival in Sandton from 12 to 14
November will be able to walk away with the ultimate whisky collection – South
Africa’s first single malt, launched in 2003 under the name Three Ships 10 Year
Old Single Malt, and the second single malt, launched over a three-year period
from 2010 in their special packaging commemorating three famous figures from
the early history of the Cape namely Bartholomew Diaz (2010), Vasco da Gama
(2011) and Jan van Riebeeck (2012).
Only 8 000 bottles were
released each year and you will be hard-pressed to still find a bottle. If you
do it will probably be of the 2012 limited edition and certainly not the entire
collection and very definitely not the single malt of 2003.
Each night one of these
collections will be presented to one winner. Visit the Three Ships stand to
find out how you can be the lucky one.
During the festival,
master distiller Andy Watts will be hosting workshops during which those
attending will also be given a sneak preview of the much-anticipated Three
Ships 10 Year Old single malt to be launched next year. He will also be
demonstrating his vision for South African whiskies by means of some innovative
cask finishes he has been working on at The James Sedgwick Distillery in
Wellington. Pre-booking, which is essential for these workshops, can be done by
visiting www.whiskylivefestival.co.za
Those not able to
attend the workshops can join more informal tastings of two World Whisky
Awards’ World’s Best whiskies, the Three Ships Premium Select 5 Year Old (named
World’s Best Blended Whisky in 2012) and Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky (World’s
Best Grain Whisky in 2013) along with a very interesting blend Andy has been
masterminding at the distillery. Bookings for these tasting can be done
on the evening at the Three Ships or Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky stand.
