Creative Designs Expected at The Wedding Expo® Cake Challenge

If you are a fan of all the cake shows on television, then you will love The Wedding Expo® Cake Challenge! The cakes entered into the competition will be on display at The Wedding Expo® on 5 and 6 April.

Creative designs from all 37 entrants are expected. It will be exciting to see the entries in the novice category, which is themed for a Highveld autumn wedding. Professional entries will submit cakes suitable for a spring wedding in Gauteng.

Visitors will be able to vote for their favourite cake in both the Novice and Professional categories and go into a draw to win prizes from the competition sponsors, Philips and Yuppiechef. Prizes up for grabs are a Philips Avance Stand Blender and a R500.00 voucher from Yuppiechef.

Judges to the competition include Franco Lambaise from the SA Decorators Guild, Nicole Allen the editor of Wedding Inspirations magazine, Angela Day from media partner The Star and Gill Pope from Bidvest Food Services.

2013 Best Overall Cake and Best Taste winner, Cakes by Pat will once again be competing, as will the Best Decorated Cake winner, The Cake Genie and the Public’s Favourite Cake winner, Magnolia Cake and Bake will all be competing again in the professional category.
