STER-KINEKOR OPENS ITS LUXURIOUS
CINEMA EXPERIENCE AT CAVENDISH
Automated reclining chairs and
personal service in Cine Prestige take cinema viewing to a whole new level
Ster-Kinekor Theatres has
unveiled the evolution of the cinema experience to its most luxurious, at its
popular Cavendish Square cinema complex. The country’s leading cinema chain has
transformed two cinemas at this site into Cine Prestige theatres, and these
will be open for business to Cape Town’s movie-going public from today, Friday,
28 November.
With the opening of this
premium cinema experience, Ster-Kinekor has ensured that its loyal movie
audiences can experience ‘Great Moments at their Greatest’ in comfort and
style.
All the cinemas at
Ster-Kinekor’s Cavendish complex boast the latest in digital projector
technology that offers crystal clear images and quality surround sound speaker
systems, with four cinemas able to screen films in 3D. Now, due to popular
demand, Ster-Kinekor has taken cinema viewing to the next level with the
opening of not one, but two exclusive Cine Prestige cinemas.
Says Fiaz Mahomed, CEO of
Ster-Kinekor Theatres: “This exclusive cinema format epitomises film-viewing
heaven and pure luxury rolled into one. The two Cine Prestige cinemas at
Cavendish are fitted with 44 and 40 seats respectively, made up of a
combination of single and double automated recliner chairs that ooze lavish
comfort. Each chair has a snack tray neatly fitted into it to accommodate the
gourmet platters and refreshments, and includes yet another first for
Ster-Kinekor: a refrigerated cup-holder to ensure that your drink stays
cold throughout the film.
“We have also introduced
another exciting innovation to make this luxury cinema experience a smooth and
seamless one. Guests are able to order refreshments, including a delicious
selection of gourmet platters, making use of a tablet for fast and efficient
service. This is a first for any cinema across the continent!” states Mahomed.
When entering the exclusive
VIP Lounge area of the new Cine Prestige cinemas, guests are welcomed and
served personally by the cinema hosts and waiters. Using the tablets on hand,
guests are able to place their order and indicate where they would like it to
be served – either in the lounge, or at their seat inside the cinema – and at
what time they would like each ordered item.
“So, a guest might like a
coffee in the lounge, a gourmet platter or a drink and popcorn in the cinema as
the film starts, and a delicious dessert half-way through the film. All this is
now possible with the new technology that we have introduced here at Cine
Prestige in Cavendish,” explains Mahomed.
This is the company’s sixth
investment in the luxurious Cine Prestige format, following the success of
installations at The Zone in Rosebank, Cradlestone Mall to the west of
Johannesburg, The Grove Mall in Pretoria East, Gateway in Durban and, more
recently, Sandton City.
“We are very proud of this
new development at our Cavendish site. Audiences in Cape Town have been begging
us to bring this luxury cinema experience to their part of the country.
We are pleased to say that we listened to their pleas and have acted on their
wishes!
“With the latest blockbusters
releasing each week, and eleven state-of-the-art digital cinemas – including
the two new Cine Prestige cinemas – in which to watch them, we are confident
that audiences who enjoy ‘great moments’ at our cinemas at Cavendish will
certainly be back for more,” concludes Mahomed.
For instant access to find
out what’s new, which films are releasing when, and to make a booking, smart
phone users can download the popular SK App on their Nokia, Samsung Android,
iPhone or Blackberry smart phones – and have all the information they need at
the touch of a button. With tickets at a premium in the exclusive Cine Prestige
cinemas, advance booking is recommended!
