The Black Bamboo’s new executive sous chef
The
sensational Black Bamboo restaurant, situated at the magnificent Menlyn
Boutique Hotel, is thrilled to announce the appointment of the new executive
sous chef Morgan Mohlatlole. The restaurant which offers a fine-dining
culinary experience has grown remarkably over the past year and the popularity
continues to increase. The success of The Black Bamboo was the reason
head chef Pellie Grobler decided to appoint his second in charge.
The process
of selecting the right person did not come easy as The Black Bamboo’s is head
chef Pellie’s pride and joy, and he was resolute in finding someone that
encapsulated all the qualities of a good chef. “I wanted to find someone
that shared my vision of how a world class restaurant is run,” says
Pellie. “When I came across Morgan’s resume, I had a good feeling that I
had found the person that I was looking for.”
Morgan, who
has over eleven years of experience in the hospitality industry, discovered his
love and passion for cooking from a young age. “I spent hours in the
kitchen with my mother who taught me all the basics,” explains Morgan.
His talents became more prominent in school when he chose Home Economics as a
subject excelling in both the theoretical and practical application.
Morgan’s
childhood dream was to become a chef and determined to fulfill his dream he
pursued a career in the hospitality industry. His experience in a number
of prestigious establishments and his evident passion for cooking were all
factors that assisted Pellie in making his decision.
Morgan who
works closely with Pellie has learnt a tremendous amount since working at The
Black Bamboo. “Pellie and I work well together, he is a good teacher and
he offers me the guidance I need,” says Morgan. “I am so proud to be the
executive sous chef at this world-class restaurant and to be working under the
reputable chef Pellie,” Morgan continues. Morgan believes that the
success of the restaurant is due to Pellie’s excellent culinary skills and the
manner in which he interacts with patron, which is something to aspire to.
“Working at
The Black Bamboo is challenging as we are always changing our menus but I like
the challenge.” I like meeting different people and the most fulfilling
aspect of my job is making our customers happy,” says Morgan. “At The
Black Bamboo, we are a team and we all work towards the same goals and
everything we do is because we are passionate about it” concludes Morgan.
