Steve Hofmeyr brings Toeka 3
to life atCarnival City
The inimitable, always-entertaining,
highly-versatile and often-outspoken Steve Hofmeyr is on his way to Carnival City
on Saturday, 6December to promote his newest album Toeka 3.
The artist, who recently celebrated 25
years in music, has just released the long-awaited third album in the
successful Toeka series, reinforcing
his place as one of the hardest working, critically and commercially-acclaimed
South African artists.
“Steve Hofmeyr has a massive following
in our region and we are delighted to give his fans the chance to see him
perform live on our stage. They will be treated to fresh new material from his
latest album. It is going to be a fantastic show,” says Jaco Saaiman, the
Entertainment Manager at Carnival City.
Hofmeyr has always been an advocate of
paying tribute to great legends from the past (and present), which is what
initially led to his multi-platinum award-winning Toeka-series. The latest release, which he brings to life at
Carnival City this festive season, is poised to continue this success story.
Since
2003’s first collection and 2004’s Toeka
2 CD and DVD release, Hofmeyr has painstakingly worked on creating the song
list for the album, based on requests from his fans. The album features 17
re-polished gems, each loaded with pure nostalgia, along with two more
brand-new originals tocomplement Toeka’s
tried-and-tested formula.
Hofmeyr has put his unique stamp and
sound on a list of legendary hits by the likes of Fanie de Jager (Ek Kyk Do
Diep In Jou Oe), Cindy Alter (Substitute) and Herbie&Spence (My Enigste
Een). Hofmeyer’sversatility shines through with each track, from the animated
and fun (Hak Hom Blokkies), the controversial (Die Stem), and blissful
originality in between. The first single released, “Sit
die ligte aan”, has charted nationally, entering at number one on various
stations.
Tickets to Hofmeyr’s show at Carnival
City are available from Computicket.
