The opening of the Peter Matkovich golf course at Sea Cliff Resort and
Spa is underway
Diana Howell the
marketing Manager of the Sea Cliff Resort and Spa in Zanzibar is proud to
announce that the course was opened on the 12th of December by Mr.
Veer Patel of the Pearlsun Group, the parent company of Sea Cliff Resort and
Spa who proudly shot the first ball on the course. “I enjoyed the round
of golf very much and I am looking forward to the finishing touches to the
course.”
The day was followed
some days later, with the soft opening of the first 9-hole, 18 tee Peter
Matkovich designed golf course on the 15th of December 2014 with Ms.
Gtongo and Mr. Cann (add picture) enjoying the first four holes and then
treated to a champagne breakfast on the fifth tee and later they had this to
say “we were very impressed with the design of the course, particularly the
finishing hole.” A welcome addition to ‘paradise’.
Golf General Manager,
Hein Papenfus says “we are using this time to improve the course and the recent
unusually heavy rain have given some insights to where we will need to increase
the drainage for the rainfall seasons. The juvenile grass is being carefully
nurtured by our skilled team of course Supervisors headed up by Igor Duvel. We
will also spray the course to prevent the infestation of army worms and other
insects.”
Currently the course
is only open to guests at the hotel and will only be open to the general public
once the course is in a pristine state. Mr. Pappenfus adds “We are looking
forward to the official launch and we are hoping that the opening of this
remarkable course will encourage Zanzibar players to grow the golfing
community,” This is expected in six to eight weeks. The official launch is
expected to be attended by approximately 100 people who will be playing in the
morning and afternoon. The days leading up to and after the event will be
filmed by Dale Hayes from Supergolf / Supersport. Peter Matkovich will be
proudly opening the course and welcoming speech at the launch.

interesting developments.
